On May 10th, Matthew Reynolds and Trena Fields hosted a Liberated Equity Diversity Inclusion Accessibility (LEDIA) Let’s Talk on Clubhouse with Claudia Alick. The topic of discussion was “Defining ourselves for ourselves.” They shared a quote by Lorde, “If I didn’t define myself, I would be crunched into other people’s fantasies for me and eaten alive”. This podcast is 65 minutes in length.
I recently attended a bystander training and wanted to share what I learned with all of you. In light of recent events, it’s more important than ever to know how to intervene and prevent the lynching of Black people. The bystander effect is when people in a crowd witnessing something bad happening don’t intervene because they assume someone else will do it. This can lead to terrible consequences, like the tragic murder of Jordan Neely.
Calling Up Justice regularly conducts scheduled and impromptu livestreams across multiple platforms, including Twitch, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. We engage in spontaneous streaming for breaking events and simply for the sake of it, as we value the freedom and informality that comes with it. The scheduled programming enables our audience to plan their participation in specific topics or activities. We thoroughly enjoy the real-time interaction and connection with our collaborators and take pleasure in gaining new friends through our streams. Being live in digital spaces holds a special significance, particularly in these times of increased physical distancing due to the pandemic.
