Digital Producing BootCamp: Increase your Audience with Transmedia Storytelling

It’s vital that Black creativity be centered everywhere. How can we use free platforms to brainstorm ways to extend the theatrical experience into multiple mediums? Calling Up Justice digital producers Maiamama and Claudia Alick invite Black Theater Makers to explore this question in Digital Producing BootCamp: Increase your Audience with Transmedia Storytelling. Understand the powerful medium that is transmedia storytelling. Learn how to develop narrative extensions to draw in audiences and enhance the theatrical experience. Explore different examples from different theaters and in various mediums. We will use 3-5 free or low cost existing platforms to provide examples of practice and process. In closing we will experiment with building our own unique transmedia extensions of Douglas Turners Wards “Day of Absence”. Outcomes of the session will be greater knowledge and familiarity with tools and concepts to increase your audience reach to multiple platforms.

This workshop is great for producers, director’s, actors, designers, playwrights, and arts administrators of any skill level. We center racial justice, accessibility, and good vibes. Get ready for a session that will kick-start your creative spirit in new directions with nurturing education and low stakes goofy experimentation.
