Justice Producers Collaborative Project Narrative

Calling Up Justice with the support of The Curiosity Paradox successfully produced 23rd Cultivation Calls since beginning this project in 2020. 10 folks and locations spanning the United States and Canada spoke about practices that span academia, the arts, data analysis, science, and organizing.

The Justice Producers Collaborative is a project produced by the Calling Up Justice practice, which was founded by Claudia Alick. The Calling Up Justice practice is dedicated to producing justice online, onstage, and in real life through digital and in-person social justice training and art making. This includes producing plays, Twitch streams, TikTok videos, Instagram content, and a YouTube channel.

In 2020, the Justice Producers Collaborative was established as a partnership with The Curiosity Paradox, an organization that works with clients and audiences to challenge and redistribute power dynamics through consulting, workshops, and interactive artworks that center and model disability access. The Curiosity Paradox was founded by two disabled white people who recognize the implicit bias of predominantly white institutions towards white, work-ready bodies. They aim to create a space of solidarity, resistance, learning, and creativity by exposing power dynamics and experimenting with power redistribution.

The Justice Producers Collaborative connects justice producers through monthly cultivation calls, a Discord channel for communication, and an online justice garden that features links to the practices and ideas generated by Justice Producers. These cultivation calls are open to all who self-identify as justice producers and prioritize the perspectives and practices of marginalized communities, including BIPOC, disabled, queer, and trans communities. During these calls, members introduce themselves, share their justice practices and future projects, and discuss how their marginalized identities influence their work. They also explore how they want others to connect with their work.

The Justice Producers Collaborative is not a club or an event, but rather a movement that individuals can engage with for empowerment and rejuvenation. It is beyond space and time and contains the strength of all who participate. It is a valuable resource for those committed to creating justice in their communities and beyond, offering training, art making, and content production to raise awareness and inspire action towards a more just and equitable world.
