Sun (sehay) is a multidisciplinary artist, dancer, and musician rooted in Appalachia whose work bridges Black spirituality, movement, and sound. Their creative practice explores remembrance, memory-keeping, and Black madness as acts of reclamation and healing. Through slow, embodied movement, soundscape creation, and text-based reflection, Sun builds spaces of playfulness, devotion, and unshaming community care. Their practice, including offerings like Working Towards Witness and Fortifying Our Living Altars (FOLA), uplifts Black queer and trans embodiment as sacred, expressive, and deeply interconnected with land and ancestral rhythm. Sun was a Calling Up Justice Quarantine residency guest artist in 2025.
