EarlyWords is a simple tool for daily, stream-of-consciousness journaling that can be used for monring pages and other writing. It is a powerful tool for automatic writing. The goal of automatic writing is to let go of conscious thought and allow the subconscious mind to take over, and EarlyWords provides the perfect platform for this kind of writing.
Calling Up Justice is creating a resource on access frictions because there are multiple meanings and applications of the term. Access frictions refer to the challenges and barriers that individuals face when trying to access resources, services, or activities. These barriers can arise due to various factors, such as physical, sensory, or cognitive disabilities. Access frictions can occur when serving one access need creates an access barrier for someone else. In the context of disability, access frictions are the obstacles that disabled people face when trying to access everyday services that non-disabled people often take for granted.
In 2012 a study found that every 28 hours a black person was extrajudicially killed by vigilante, security guard, or the police in the United States. This statistic was immediately contested and the country is still embroiled with addressing a problem it struggles to acknowledge. Inspired by the conversation we needed to have this project was developed. Currently produced by Claudia Alick and CALLING UP, The Every 28 Hours Plays project was originally developed with The Oregon Shakespeare Festival and The One-Minute Play Festival with over one-hundred artistic collaborators across the country. Collaborators include Tony award-winning artists, activists, family members directly affected by police violence, politicians, cultural organizers, and law enforcement. The project consists of over seventy short plays that reflect the current civil rights movement, and tools to help your community address these issues, grow empathy, and become healthier. We offer the plays on a Pay What You Can model as part of our philosophy of radical generosity.
One Free Community is a BIPOC led collaborative project working toward building communities and providing disability & neuro-affirming spaces online through TikTok and Discord. We are a decolonization-focused advocacy organization committed to mutual aid and collective cross-solidarity activism.
Calling Up Justice believes in the art of self-reflection and journaling for empowerment. This tool designed by Yo-Yo Lin uses the idea of data-tracking as an objective tool for holding space for illness. Yo-Yo Lin seeks for The Resilience Journal to be a self-reflection, advocacy, and community-building tool, residing on the shoulders of Disability Justice giants.

Body doubling is a practice in which a person works on and completes potentially frustrating tasks alongside another person. The body double’s job is to help anchor the person to the present moment and task, reducing the risk of distraction. This can be especially helpful for making a boring task more enjoyable and rewarding, or for providing subtle pressure to remain focused. In some cases, the mere presence of a body double can also soothe an anxious mind and model attentive, focused work. We use it a lot in the Calling Up Justice practice.
Writing your own videogames can be a powerful way to empower BIPOC and women by promoting greater representation, challenging the status quo, and providing opportunities for personal and professional growth.
