MARCH 12 Spent most of the day in my Airbnb sending #covid19 resources over the various social media spaces and transforming all my future gatherings into digital engagements or just canceling or rescheduling them. I had a lot of travel and workshop scheduled for the month. We canceled the Network of Ensemble Theaters #emfusa events and attended a performance at Tricklock’s International Festival. Their programming was magnificent. I met with artists from Uganda, France, England, Colorado and am disappointed to miss their work and also feeling the enormous negative financial impact of not knowing the urgency of this issue earlier. It’s hard to reschedule if you already spent your money on travel and venues and can’t get refunds. I’m blown away by the generous smart collaborative leadership I’m witnessing. Also I ran into Dominka who I went to grad school with. This is a great #Walkabout location but I will have to return to fully experience the Albuquerque cultural producing ecology.—
THIS IS WHAT WE CANCELED: Join NET from March 12-15 in Albuquerque, NM for the 2nd event in our year-long, rolling, nationwide Ensemble MacroFest USA 2020 event series celebrating ensemble theater and exploring the “state of the art” of ensemble practice and performance-making across the US.
In partnership with the 20th anniversary year of the Revolutions International Theatre Festival (produced by NET ensemble member Tricklock Company), NET’s EMFUSA2020:ABQ event will gather ensemble practitioners over four days of the festival to share learning around global and intercultural exchange, equitable ensemble practice, Indigeneity and collective creation, artist-to-artist touring, resource sharing, and more.
