Subject: SIGN THE PETITION: We pledge to no longer perform or attend events at the Kennedy Center

Body: Friend,

President Trump’s hostile takeover of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts represents not just an attack on a revered institution, but a dangerous step toward the suppression of artistic freedom itself.

Throughout history, authoritarian regimes have sought to control or silence the arts, recognizing that music, theater, and all forms of creative expression are among the greatest tools for resistance. Fascism thrives when culture is censored, when voices of dissent are silenced, and when artists — who challenge, question, and inspire — are pushed to the margins or co-opted for propaganda. We must not allow this to happen.

In response to this blatant politicization of the Kennedy Center, we stand in solidarity with the growing number of artists who are refusing to perform at the venue under this administration’s control. We must make it clear that the artistic community will not be used as a pawn in a larger scheme to erode democracy and free expression. Our collective action can send a powerful message: the arts belong to the people, not to any political regime seeking to dictate what can and cannot be expressed.

If you believe in the sanctity of creative freedom and the role of the arts in upholding democracy, we urge you to sign on to this pledge. By standing together, we reaffirm that art must remain a space for truth, dissent, and imagination—free from the grasp of political manipulation.
