Responding to Black People Can Be Racist - Calling Up Justice!

Responding to Black People Can Be Racist

This Calling Up response video is a direct answer to a question from one of our community members who asked “So, I feel like folks get distracted fighting over the definition of racism. If there were two different words, one for personal bias and one for institutionalized systems of privilege, perhaps we could skip the argument and get to the substance?”

Understanding requires two people to agree on shared definitions. When someone is using “Racism” to refer to something that is NOT responding to white supremacy culture and instead wants to indulge in white fragility denial your options become clear.  How do you respond?  Tell them to stop changing the subject and return to the action of addressing white supremacy culture.
