Networks of People Power

a salmon leaping in a forest connected by technology

Calling Up Justice grows networks of people power like an ecosystem — rooted, resilient, interdependent, and alive. We are like salmon in a redwood forest, moving through currents of community, carrying nutrients, creativity, and resources from one part of the ecosystem to another. Just as salmon feed the towering redwoods by swimming upstream, returning home, and nourishing the soil, our people circulate wisdom, resilience, and care through every layer of our work. Their movement keeps the whole forest thriving.

At the foundation is our root work: deep connections with large organizations that nourish and stabilize the field. These include fiscal sponsors like the SMP Disability Justice Fund, membership networks like The Network of Ensemble Theaters, and advisory partnerships with the San Francisco Disability Cultural Center and HowlRound Digital Theater Commons. Their reach and resources feed the soil our community grows in.

Above the roots rises a forest of Crip resiliency hubs — spaces like One Free Community and Disability Justice Culture Club, alongside creative partners such as The Curiosity Paradox and Catalyst Productions. These are the thriving groves where we host residencies, build access, and cultivate collective growth through projects like Crip Create.

In the canopy, birds on the branches represent the individuals we connect through one-on-one meetings, livestreams, and community events. These exchanges spread seeds of collaboration and new ideas across networks, ensuring our ecosystem remains vibrant and ever-growing.

Calling Up Justice’s networking strategy is an ecology of relationships — from roots to salmon to canopy — designed to sustain justice, creativity, and interdependence.
