Nero Launch Party - Calling Up Justice!

Nero Launch Party

This event opened with some lovely opening remarks from writer, director, editor Kyoung Park. Claudia Alick led the group through access choreography and how to get to the screening room. Everyone watched the first act of the play through the vimeo link on their own. Later they returned to the zoom link for a great conversation where the cast and crew shared fascinating observations about the innovative process. There was so much positive talk about the direction of the play and the ensemble who manifested it. It was an informative, fun, and emotionally positive closing watch party event for the production.

NERO is a Shakespearean, five-act “streamplay” theatricalizing the history from George W. Bush’s War on Terror to our present day as the rise and fall of Nero’s Roman Empire. Set in 64AD in Rome’s Palace of the Frogs, this “state of the nation” tragicomedy exposes how the ruling class maintains control through warfare and state violence, unearthing white male supremacy as the root of American Imperialism. Claudia Alick helped with the design of their final watch party and acted as a host and interviewer at the event.

From Kyong’s Pacific Beat Instagram ” Come join us for the Digital Watch Party celebrating the World Premiere of NERO via Zoom. Next Monday, June 17th, we will watch the first act of NERO and Claudia Alick from @callingupjusticenow will host a Q&A session with artists from our production including composer @helyeemusic and performers @zachluskzach and @imransheikhinfo . This event is free and open to the general public. RSVP link in bio.”
