Calling Up Justice Presents: A Digital Access Hub for May Day 2026
This May Day, Calling Up Justice built an accessible digital staging ground for Disabled people, chronically ill people, immunocompromised people, caregivers, and anyone who needed remote access to civic action.
We did not produce the protest itself. We produced access to public participation.
Because showing up for democracy should not depend on stairs, stamina, transportation, geography, safety, income, or health. Public engagement belongs to all of us.

Join the Digital May Day Hub

On May 1, 2026, workers, students, families, and communities across the country will rally, march, strike, organize, and take action for a nation that puts workers over billionaires.
Participants gathered in the space from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Together, we watched livestreams from Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles, Portland, and ended the day in New York City. People took the stage to share their own ideas with the crowd. We held a rich conversation about disability, protesting, harmful laws, and accessibility.

Calling Up Justice hosted an online gathering space where remote participants connected to this national day of action in real time.

Our hub lived inside an interactive GatherTown space where participants:
- Created avatars and moved through a shared digital world
- Met and chatted with others attending remotely
- Accessed links to livestreams, Zoom rooms, and actions happening nationwide
- Listened to live DJ sets and community music
- Watched screens featuring protests, speeches, performances, and civic events from around the country
- Toured the Art Gallery
- Rested, connected, witnessed, organized, and participated at their own pace
Why This Matters
Too often, public actions forget the millions of people who cannot safely or easily attend in person.

Disabled people have always been part of movements for labor rights, racial justice, immigrant justice, reproductive freedom, and democracy. Access is not extra. It is infrastructure.
We believe remote participation is not secondary participation. It is real participation.
