This was a super fun and engaging workshop on accessibility and disability justice with Long Wharf Theatre Jan 19 2024. It’s always a pleasure to work with a room of diverse roles from across the institution. Our training included history and context of disability rights and disability justice. We followed with definitions and examples of microaggressions in theater. Then we covered ways to respond to injustice and remove access barriers.

Using the Calling Up Justice philosophy we brainstormed barriers to access and ways to break through them. Having the training virtually allowed more people to participate accessibly. Claudia Alick was lead designer and trainer on this workshop with assistance from Jesenia. It was a great room of theater makers and we are excited to experience what they produce.
