Lesbians Who Tech & Allies : Queer. Inclusive. Badass. Mixer

Event Report:
Calling Up Justice Producer Jesenia @NeuroSpicyNetworking attended this amazing hybrid virtual Lesbians Who Tech & Allies event! She then joined the Dallas, TX satellite evening mixer in person to network with other amazing queer techies. It’s always a good time when you’re surrounded by awesome people!! 🌈

Lesbians Who Tech is a global community of 110,000+ LGBTQIA+ women, trans and nonbinary individuals, and our allies in tech. https://www.linkedin.com/company/lesbians-who-tech/

Neurodiverse at Work:
During the pandemic and newly accessibly work from home jobs, the rate of fully employed autistic adults has risen from 4% to 19%. However, 85% of autistic adults with a college degree are still unemployed!* Lack of accommodations and prevalent misinformation around autism has made it difficult for autists to gain and retain employment. Autists find it difficult to navigating work environments and to learn how to network without guidance and leadership from other autists who understand what we need to thrive.

Networking to Build Community:
Jesenia is working on applying her networking skills to become one of the many autistic adults working to help our community learn how to thrive! She met some amazing people working for big names such as Microsoft, Gartner, and Wells Fargo. Sharing contact info and connecting on LinkedIn grows our connectivity and further supports our understanding of our interdependence! By building community both locally and online we are not only making it safer for our most marginalized community members, we are building a more inclusive and equitable world.

Watch a video of Jesenia discussing how exhausting it is to exist as fully employed autist networking.
