Fifteen Years of Growing the Commons with HowlRound
Calling Up Justice is proud to have supported HowlRound Theatre Commons for many years. HowlRound has consistently published stories that matter to our communities—stories that center equity, access, and collective imagination—while also pioneering livestream connectivity and digital gathering practices that deeply align with our values.
As HowlRound marks fifteen years of cultivating a decommodified digital commons, we celebrate this moment of transition and continuity. The platform’s commitment to open access publishing, global dialogue, and commons-based practice has shaped the field and offered a vital third space where artists and cultural workers can think together, organize together, and rehearse more just futures.
Moving forward, HowlRound will be fiscally sponsored by Producer Hub, a New York-based nonprofit organization and connective space for independent producers, artists, and other arts workers creating live performance. As a sponsee of Producer Hub, all our core programs and values will remain the same. Ramona and Julia will continue to work alongside current team members Vijay Mathew, Ashley Malafronte, Munroe Shearer, Thea Rodgers, and Yaşam Gülseven.
Claudia Alick has been honored to serve as a HowlRound advisor for many years and remains in deep support as the organization enters its next chapter with new leadership and independent operations. We are grateful for HowlRound’s past, energized by its present, and excited for what’s ahead.
HowlRound has always felt like a letter from the future—and we’re glad to keep reading, writing, and building alongside it.
