Elizabeth Mills-Low

Political Organizer Public Speaker

Meet Elizabeth Mills-Low, an exceptional high school student, dedicated political organizer, and inspiring public speaker. With a passion for promoting justice in the world she founded Students Acting for Equality (SAFE) in middle-school and the Association for BIPOC Youth with Empower Montana during her high-school years. Serving on the Empower Montana Youth Advisory Council since 2019, Elizabeth actively impacts the organization’s strategic planning and vision. As a workshop facilitator for youth leadership development at camps and schools, she nurtures them as advocates and leaders. Beyond her activism, Elizabeth’s artistic talents shine through her involvement as an actress, costume designer, and seamstress, while also captivating audiences as a keynote speaker at the Missoula MLK Day celebration. Fearlessly lobbying the state legislature, she advocates for comprehensive sex education and trans rights, embodying the power of youth to drive positive change and create an inclusive society for all. Elizabeth is a strong candidate for the future.

Testimonial

“For me, being able to follow the lead of this amazing young person is to be inspired, to be activated, and to be empowered to make change, whether that is just for you individually, or for institutions, or the people you care about, so it’s my honor to welcome Lizzie.”

Philosophy

Elizabeth is seeking a higher education experience that aligns with her diverse interests and passions. As a driven individual, she values a strong political science department, where she can further develop her understanding of social issues and contribute to positive change. An active student activities department is crucial for her, as she wishes to engage in extracurricular activities and continue her advocacy work on campus. Equally important is a robust art and theater department that allows her to express her creativity and continue her passion for acting, costume design, and seamstress work. Additionally, she seeks a university that prioritizes racial and LGBTQ justice, providing a supportive and inclusive environment for all students to thrive and be heard.

“Those with great wealth and privilege use their power to divide us amongst ourselves. This tactic, that only strengthens white supremacy, is a barrier to all progress.”
