Election Night Gathering - Calling Up Justice!

Election Night Gathering

We had a great gathering inside the digital encampment for community solidarity while the votes were being tabulated this Tuesday. We made rooms for disassociation and distracting ourselves from the onslaught of data. There were also rooms for hyperfixation where we could pay attention to all the results as they come in.

We acknowledge the limitations of politicians and the two-party system. Get empowered by joining strategic engagement prioritizing community-led actions like LANDBACK, Black reparations, and reproductive justice.

Remember three things when you vote:
One: All candidates, once elected, become our opponents.
Two: We vote for the ones we’re best suited to fight.
Three: We protect movements – our real source of power.

Election Night Community Agreements

  1. Be Chill
We encourage open dialogue but this is not the time for heated arguments. As always avoid personal attacks, discriminatory and offensive language.
  2. Stay Informed, Not Alarmed
Share reliable updates from trustworthy sources and avoid spreading unverified information or rumors.
  3. Encourage Participation
Discuss ways to stay involved in civic activities beyond the election. Promote positive actions like community engagement and ongoing organzing.
  4. Respect Diverse Voting Choices
We acknowledge that people are making different voting decisions—whether it’s voting for major parties, third parties, or abstaining—based on their unique physical, social, and political contexts. We choose not to interrogate or debate each other’s choices. Instead, we focus on supporting each other and planning long-term strategies for collective action and community investment beyond the election.
  5. Do You
We’ve created a self-directed space for this election night gathering. Do whatever you need to self-regulate. Maybe you want quiet space to think, space to gather tons of data, space for distraction, or space to take action.
