Disability Visibility Collective Quilt

Claudia and Jesenia from Calling Up Justice and Disability Culture Club travelled to the San Francisco Disability Culture Center to attend the launch of Disability Visibility Collective Quilt, a project started and sponsored by Alice Wong. We were excited to connect to community, reconnect to the wonderful people running the SF DCC, and come up with ideas for supporting Alice’s vision with the disability community!

“Alice Wong saw disabled folks as creative geniuses. Whether our creativity manifests in writing, collages, access hacks, recipes, hosting, sewing, brainstorming, speaking, or the complex art of living, Alice saw it all and wanted to share it with the world. When we met with Alice in July of 2025, she shared a dream of a Disability Creativity quilt. She dreamed up a tangible, visible, and lovable representation of disability culture that anyone could contribute to.”

We will be making plans to host one or more sewing sessions at the Disability Justice Culture Club. Stay tuned for details on that programing if you are local and want to sew with covid safer accessible options in the East Bay.
