Jesenia @ NeuroSpicyNetworking will be Interviewing Kathy Martinez as part of a Disability Culture Center Crip Elder Series.
The roots of disability culture, rights, and justice go deep in the Bay Area. We are part of an incredible legacy of organizers and activists who have developed revolutionary strategies for resistance and social change that center care, sustainability, and our collective humanity. The DCC’s Crip Elders series is all about honoring and learning from the folks who were on the ground at the 504 occupation, organizing the independent living movement, and have been loving our disabled community through justice work for decades.
Our first guest is Kathy Martinez. Kathy is a powerhouse who has been working and publishing on disability and employment for decades, including serving as Assistant Secretary for Disability Employment Policy under President Obama. Join Kathy in conversation with our dear friend Jesenia, as they dig into Kathy’s story, her motivation, and her hopes for the future.
Thursday October 8, interview 4-5pm PT (hybrid), chatting 5-6 (in person), ASL, Captions, Hybrid, Masks inside, 165 Grove St and Zoom, dcc.page/kathy
