Crip Create

Crip Create Coworking Space

A weekly online co-working and socializing space by and for all Disabled people

This is a Disability Justice-centered co-working and socializing space for all Disabled (sick, Disabled, Mad/mentally ill, Deaf, Hard of Hearing, low vision/blind, neurodiverse, or otherwise chronically ill) people. Self-diagnosis is valid.

Crip Create takes place weekly on Wednesdays 1:00-3:00 PM PDT (GMT-7) and Saturdays, 4-6 p.m. PDT (GMT-7).

How To CripCreate

Each session begins and ends with a check-in, we share access needs, and tell each other how we plan to use the time. The facilitator makes breakout rooms. Then participants are welcome to use the time how they wish. You may go into a breakout room to work silently or have a conversation. You can be playful, build community, or engage with new collaborations and relationships. We often support each other in taking it easy, creating art projects, caring for ourselves, navigating medical advocacy, strategizing resistance, affecting policy, and making change in our communities.

We share leadership by taking turns. Different people facilitate our meetings each time. Anyone from the community can volunteer to be a facilitator. We teach people how to run meetings that adapt the space for each other’s disabilities. You don’t need to know everything when you start — we can train you as we go. This way, everyone gets a chance to lead, and no one person gets stuck doing all the work. Our approach is open source.

Auto-captions will be enabled. For other access needs or to request Zoom information, please register or contact [email protected]
