A few question to reflect on before institutions create and engage with community advisory groups to inform their process. 

-Are you asking people to work for your organization for free?

-Do you want to guarantee your programs are informed b the people they are serving?

-What is the economic  and power exchange?

-How much time are you asking people to invest in the process?

-Will there be other expenses incurred by individuals in the process (travel, food, etc)

-What are people gaining from this collaboration?  

-Are you being thoughtful in your invitation of stakeholders?
