Artistic and Process Statement: Claudia Alick’s “Black Woman Don’t Owe You Anything” began as an exercise drawing a magically beautiful Black women. She decided to randomly generate it. She began curating images and sequencing them. They spoke to her and said Black Women Don’t Owe You Anything. She recorded herself saying this and added a musical beat track to the animation. Claudia has no future plans for this project.
