”We want to expand our understanding of what ‘access’ means and think about how we can create spaces—and a world—where all kinds of accessibility are centered and valued.” — From the #AccessIsLove Actions to Take
From February through June of 2021, The Curiosity Paradox, Calling Up Justice, Leaping Water Consulting, and creative access consultant Deanna Yadollahi will be co-hosting, Dis/Rep: Access is Love , a relaxed 5-month exploration of accessibility through a Discord server and a series of six two-hour relaxed virtual workshops via Zoom. This is an anti-ableist, anti-racist, queer, and trans-positive space centering the needs and voices of the Disability community.
Each live event will be done via video conference with ASL by Deaf interpreters and automated captions. Other access needs can be negotiated in the registration form and during the event itself. It is alright to only attend some of the live sessions. It is also alright to attend none of the sessions and only participate through the Discord server.
Live Session Dates
Saturday, February 20; Saturday, March 20; Saturday, April 10; Saturday, April 17; Saturday, May 22; Saturday, June 12. All live sessions are from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM PST / 2:00pm to 4:00pm EST
Sources
We will ask each participant to use their own personal bodymind experience of Disability as a primary source of information. Our other main source for the 5-month exploration will be the Actions to Take section of #AccessIsLove page from the Disability Intersectionality Summit.
