Calling Up Justice was honored to join Disability Justice Culture Club and One Free Community in sponsoring Spring Into Action: Senior & Disability Action’s 2026 Annual Celebration. The event brought together organizers, advocates, artists, community members, and movement partners to celebrate the power of seniors and disabled people organizing for justice.

The evening featured live music, performances by community artists and dancers, delicious food, meaningful conversation, and a joyful variety show. More importantly, it raised critical resources to support Senior & Disability Action’s organizing, advocacy, and educational work throughout San Francisco. Together, supporters helped raise more than $35,000—surpassing the event’s original $29,000 fundraising goal. These funds arrive at a crucial moment as SDA faces the impact of proposed city budget cuts that threaten essential programs and services.

As disability justice organizers, we were especially inspired to learn more about SDA’s ongoing campaigns and programs. Their work includes healthcare advocacy, housing justice, transit justice, leadership development, and the Masks for Equity campaign, which fights for COVID protections, clean air standards, and equitable access to testing and treatment. SDA centers seniors and disabled people in the fight for a more just and accessible city.
The celebration highlighted the power of collective action. Throughout the evening, attendees learned about SDA’s successful organizing efforts—from defending Medicaid funding and opposing cuts to disability services, to advocating for affordable housing, accessible transportation, and community care.
Calling Up Justice believes that disability justice is community justice. We are proud to support organizations like Senior & Disability Action that build leadership, protect essential services, and create opportunities for seniors and disabled people to thrive.
Congratulations to Senior & Disability Action on a successful event, and thank you for inviting us into this important work. We look forward to continuing to build power together.
