Through this hybrid experience, interns join Calling Up Justice’s Digital Placemaking Team, helping design and produce accessible online events, performances, and cultural programs while learning how justice-centered organizations collaborate across communities.

What you will LEARN
Training includes practical skills in livestream production, event facilitation, digital communications, arts administration, accessibility coordination, and collaborative project management.
- Gaining hands-on experience, mentorship, and practical skills in accessible creative production.
- Paid, disability-centered professional development opportunity for emerging creatives interested in arts, technology, justice, and community leadership
- Career readiness, experience producing accessible events, technical training and skills, such as OBS Studio, Zoom, Discord, Twitch, YouTube, and GatherTown
- Receiving mentorship from experienced producers, artists, and access leaders.
What you will DO
The tentpole project of the internship will be Accessible Virtual Pride, a large-scale online celebration centering Disabled LGBTQIA+ community, creativity, pleasure, and connection.

Eligibility
Requirements
- Must Identify as Disabled
- Applicants 21-30 years old
- Available Mid-May for virtual onboarding
- Able to attend Virtual meetings
- Be based in the Bay Area (preferred) must be in the U.S. to apply
- From June through September 2026
- Be able to participate in some in-person activities as part of the internship
- Able to attend In-person events (masked) minimum of One (1) event per month
- Able to attend In-person meetings with fellow interns
- Communicate accommodation needs with us so we can support access

We are especially interested in applicants who are:
- BIPOC, queer, trans, and historically marginalized applicants encouraged to apply
- Emerging creatives interested in arts, technology, justice, and community leadership
- Strong communicators or eager to grow communication skills
- Reliable and able to follow through on commitments
- Interested in arts, justice, accessibility, digital culture, or event production
- Collaborative and respectful in group environments
- Excited by disability justice, equity, and community-centered values
- Interested in learning producing skills and supporting public programs
What is COVERED
- Interns receive $200 per week for approximately 10 hours per week over 4 months. May – Sept. 2026
- Flexible scheduling

What is NOT Covered
This is primarily in the Bay Area in California.
- Travel to get to the Bay Area if you are not local is not covered.
- Housing in the Bay Area if you are not local is not covered.
- Meals during in-person events are not covered.

Required Materials

1. Resume, CV, or Production CV
Please send a current resume or curriculum vitae outlining your work experience, education, creative practice, volunteer experience, or community leadership. This does not need to be a traditional or professional if you don’t have one already made, please send a document that shows past work/experience in creative projects in arts, technology, justice, and community leadership.
2. Digital Portfolio Link
Share a link to examples of your work. This can include:
- Personal website
- Social media page
- Google Drive or folder
- Creative samples
- Event work
- Writing, video, design, organizing, or production examples
We welcome many forms of experience and expression. If you are a stage manager or other arts admin you can list projects you have worked on.
3. Personal Letter
Please write a short letter sharing:
- Why this internship interests you
- What is your current level of digital production skills
- What skills or experiences you hope to grow
- How this opportunity would be empowering to you and your identities
4. Two Professional References
Please submit two letters or contacts for professional references from people you have worked with such as supervisors, teachers, collaborators, mentors, organizers, or colleagues.
Please do not use relatives or family members as references.

The Calling Up Justice Internship is a paid, disability-centered professional development opportunity for emerging creatives interested in arts, technology, justice, and community leadership for applicants 21-30 years old. Interns receive $200 per week for approximately 10 hours per week over 4 months, gaining hands-on experience, mentorship, and practical skills in accessible creative production.
This internship is presented in collaboration with Black Arts Movement House, L.C. and Lillie Cox Haven of Hope, and San Francisco Disability Cultural Center, with support through the VSA Program of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. VSA is an international initiative dedicated to expanding access to the arts, arts education, and creative career pathways for Disabled people. Through internship and workforce development programs, VSA helps connect Disabled emerging professionals with real-world paid employment opportunities in the creative economy.
Through this hybrid experience, interns join Calling Up Justice’s Digital Placemaking Team, helping design and produce accessible online events, performances, and cultural programs while learning how justice-centered organizations collaborate across communities.
