We are caught up in an inescapable web of mutuality—our strength and resilience grow as our community gains knowledge, access, and the ability to exercise power. We put this belief into action through:
- Peer education and non-hierarchical power-sharing structures
- Programs that empower participants as storytellers
- Strategic partnerships with organizations that also build Black power
Our Open Development Meetings are open to all, providing a space to share funding opportunities, offer coaching, and uplift each other. Results have included participants securing grants, residencies, and fellowships. Our last meeting included seven participants where a recent participant, a Black artist working in birth justice in Chicago, secured a fiscal sponsor through our coaching and support.
Dis/Rep is our yearly virtual dialogue series focused on disability, accessibility, and culture. This program centers the scholarship of those most impacted and shares it in radical accessibility. Participants take the knowledge and implement it in their local communities.

We bring Black-centered cultural events into digital space and also share power with programs like Gaming4Justice – A twitch show by our digital producer, Maiamama, featuring video games on justice topics such as Dot’s House and Defund LA. She also designs justice-centered video games like “Can You Survive Racism?” and “100k Praises” that are meant to allow players to self-educate and empower.
