Calling Up Justice is honored to continue supporting this vital project in Part 2 of 24 Hours for Palestine. For the first edition, we produced a watch party inside our Digital Encampment GatherTown space, designed by Claudia Alick with a river, sea, and moonrise. Volunteers held vigil the full 24 hours so no one was watching alone, and we fostered powerful conversations rooted in care and solidarity. For Part 2, we are once again opening this immersive Digital Encampment, offering a space where people across the globe can gather, witness, and connect throughout the livestream and beyond. By carrying forward what we built in Part 1, this continuation ensures that 24 Hours for Palestine is not just an event, but an enduring place of collective memory, resistance, and community care.
Claudia Alick livestreamed to tiktok and gathered audience from the Calling Up Justice Community inside our Theater Space. Thanks to the entire digital place making team for their brainstorming ideas and to Nuerovapor’s great design and implementation. We come together again, over a year later, for the second edition of 24 Hours for Palestine because the genocide that Israel is committing in Gaza has not yet ended, nor has the systematic erasure, expulsion, and violence against the Palestinian people, which has continued for over 76 years. We come together now, from North America to the Middle East and beyond, to speak out against mass starvation, ethnic cleansing, forced displacement, cultural erasure, and the mass murder of civilians, journalists, doctors, children, and human beings based on race, culture, religion or ethnicity. We come together to resist censorship, and to speak out despite the systematic silencing of Palestinian voices, and voices for Palestine.
Collectively, we call for an immediate and permanent end to Israel’s genocidal military campaign against the Palestinian people, a campaign that has received military aid from governments including the United States, France, United Kingdom, Germany, India, Italy, Netherlands, and Serbia, as well as the support of countless multinational corporations in the private sector. We call for an end to Israel’s apartheid system and illegal occupation of Palestine. We call for the complete and unequivocal liberation of the Palestinian people, including the right of return. And we call on our global community of theatre-makers, artists, and cultural leaders to stand with us, to speak out with us. We call on you to stand for justice and liberation, despite fear of retribution. We call on you to stand on the right side of history.
