Connecting Under the Sun at Tacoma Pride

Tacoma Pride was a vibrant celebration of community, identity, and connection. Under the hot summer sun, I had the joy of meeting up with friends and sharing space with so many passionate and engaged people. One particularly memorable interaction was with a representative from Uhuru Solidarity Movement (uhurusolidarity.org), an organization of white people working under the leadership of the African People’s Socialist Party to support reparations and African liberation.
Our conversation about their mission was thought-provoking, opening up space for reflection on what real solidarity looks like. Moments like these are what make Pride more than just a party—it’s a space for learning, organizing, and building meaningful relationships across movements.
None of us are free until all of us are free.
