Calling Up Justice is excited to announce the release of Shhh! You Can’t Say That, a new interactive narrative game created by Maiamama using Twine. The game examines the boundaries of language and censorship in our digital spaces, inviting players to consider what can—and cannot—be said.

Shhh! You Can’t Say That premiered live on Gaming4Justice, Calling Up Justice’s weekly Twitch and YouTube series exploring social justice themes through gameplay and design. The live session featured the first public playthrough of the draft version, which is now available for public testing and feedback.
Shhh! You Can’t Say That challenges players to identify key words hidden within a paragraph about Calling Up Justice’s work. Certain words are clickable—but they don’t look any different from the rest of the text. The game’s design mirrors the experience of navigating spaces where certain language is welcomed, discouraged, or outright censored.
By obscuring which words are interactive, the game creates a playful yet pointed commentary on self-censorship, algorithmic content moderation, and the ways marginalized communities must constantly negotiate what they can say in digital spaces.
Players are encouraged to experience the game and share their thoughts to help shape its continued development.
